The Wine Families

Welcome to my Wine Families page!

Here you can find names, location and link of family-owned wineries I write about now who will be in my book “Le Donne di Piemonte” plus some of my other favorites from Napa, South Africa and Valais, Switzerland.   As with life, it’s a work in progress as I’m always discovering more wonderful family owned wineries.  Life is not boring!

  1. I have just purchased your book. My husband, Alan Silvestri (the film composer) and I have a vineyard in Carmel Valley, CA that is inspired by his family in Piemonte, at Castell Alfero. We have visited Castell Alfero many times and have even visited a few wineries in the area, including Castello del Poggio (Barbera d’Asti) and Gaja, and have spent the day at the Gamba cooperage in Castell Alfero. After the first visit there we decided to grow Barbera in our vineyard and it has become one of our most sought after wines. Check out our vineyard at silvestrivineyards.com. If you are ever in the Carmel, CA area please stop in and let me know that you are coming. I am very much looking forward to your book. Sounds wonderful! Sandra Silvestri

    1. Hi Sandra,

Yes! Thank you. I saw your purchase and I very much appreciate your support. I would love to visit you when I am in California in September, if that would be ok. I have an event at the San Francisco Wine School on September 11. I’ll send you info as it becomes available.

      Thank you again!

      Cheers,
      Suzanne
